About Our Team
Sherry Hursey is an award-winning actress, vocalist, writer and producer whose face and voice are very familiar to television, radio and film audiences worldwide. Most recognized as, Ilene, on the hit series Home Improvement, or Kirsten Dunst’s mother in the Universal blockbuster Bring It On, Sherry has an extensive list of credits from stage to screen.
Spreading her wings and following the call of her spirit, Sherry wrote, produced and starred in the uplifting family musical, Lilly’s Light, winner of the KIDSFIRST BEST AWARD! Following, she founded Lilly’s Fostering Hearts, a non-profit org advocating for displaced and foster youth. This led her to producing PSAs and interstitials for Public TV, as well as co-creating Smile TV, a web-based network dedicated to exclusively positive news.
Sherry is now the co-owner of Turning On the Light Entertainment, where her heart and talents are being fully expressed by writing, producing and distributing inspiring and uplifting positive music and media.
Rick Cowling is the co-owner, sound engineer and music supervisor for TOtLEntertainment.com. Aside from being an extremely accomplished musician, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, writer and producer, Rick has been the guitarist for Kenny Loggins, as well as, touring for five years as the lead singer and keyboard player for Ambrosia. You may even recognize him as the singing pharmacist on Modern Family. As a songwriter and music producer for Capitol records, Sony Playstation, numerous commercials and TV shows such as The Bachelorette, Beverly Hills, 90210 and Teachers on ABC, Rick has created an extensive library of original music and sound design. Rick has also produced music and DVD projects with many major artists including Bonnie Raitt, Gladys Knight, Laura Brannigan, Melissa Manchester, and Bobby Womack.
Bill Lae worked extensively in Hollywood doing visual effects for TV (Buffy, X-Files, Outer Limits), music videos, myriad commercials, awards shows, & amusement parks, and he also designed on-air graphics and show packages for all of the major television networks. More recently, he designed and produced the graphics and visual effects for “Lilly’s Light.”
Bill is an award winning film-maker. He wrote, directed and produced the critically acclaimed (Daily Variety) mockumentary, SuperGuy: Behind the Cape. ( http://superguy.info/ ) SuperGuy and Bill’s Young Merlin both went into development with Paramount Television. Satire is his favorite sword, and his scripts are always comedy meets fantastical. SuperGuy-super hero. Crossing Over-supernatural. U.F.OH!-science fiction / extraterrestrials. Magi-fantasy/wizards.
On the internet, his “Cooking with Carmine” campaign for Lyco-Red went viral and garnered over 9 million dollars in earned media. The Champions of Greatness series won the "Best Marketing Campaign" at ExpoWest, the leading trade show in the natural, organic and healthy products industry.
Outside the realm of production, Bill is a stand-up comedian and has performed at the World Famous Improv in Hollywood and at the California Comedy Conference.

Malayna Dawn fell in love with words, music and positive messages as a child, and was a working vocalist by the age of 10, gaining experience in live performance, recording studios, and on camera in TV and film. As an adult, with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, she began working behind-the-scenes (and in front of them!) in radio, television, film, print media, online media and live events, both in the United States and her 12-year home of Sri Lanka. Malayna has done a ton of positive writing for the web as well as consulting on a number of websites, and has also authored a spiritual adventure novel: Echoes Across Time. Most recently, she has shared positive connections as the producer and host of Pop Conscious: Where Pop Culture and Spirituality Unite! on Unity Online Radio before becoming The News Muse for TOtLE Positive News. Paula Lurvey is a multi-talented musician and vocalist whose technical savvy with sound equipment and recording has served us well at TOtLE, and now she does both sound AND video editing! It was in the 1990’s, through a New Thought Church, where she found an avenue to express positive and transformational lyrics through her singing. Paula continues to share her talents and is popular among audiences at Unity centers, as well as at Centers for Spiritual Living. She is dedicated to spreading uplifting messages, so she is glad to be part of the TOtLE team, shining the LIGHT!
Dan Cato Wilson - Studied Dramatic Arts at UC Santa Cruz and was a sound engineer for live theater productions before becoming a sound editor on the TOtLE Positive News show. He brings his knowledge of social media and marketing to the table as well!
Andrew Ceglio is an Actor, Director, Choreographer, and Private Acting Coach known for his stage productions in the Bay Area of Northern California since 2001. He was the Founder and Artistic Director for Spotlight Youth Conservatory (formerly known as Spotlight Stage); a youth theater conservatory based out of Santa Cruz. Also a Theatrical Consultant, he is a Co-Producer working on adapting the Lilly's Light children's television pilot to a live theater production: "Lilly's Light Live!" As a talented vocalist, he has helped bring talents like Frank Sinatra back to life for his audiences. His two greatest passions, storytelling and helping others, have found a perfect home at TOtLE.
Johnny Simonello - (Producer) has a passion for Arts and Entertainment that has led to a varied and diverse career as an actor, producer, editor and filmmaker. In 2006 he created Planetary Visions TV, a producing company that focused on positive news, new trends, music, arts and entertainment. In 2009 John worked with Unity Foundation to produce Positive Spin TV and the International Peace Global Broadcast. Johnny’s producing credits include: numerous music videos, Positive Spin News, NLN Network Good News program, A Conscious Lifestyle, Summer of Peace for the Shift Network, Hollywood Music and Media Awards, Soul Sessions Live Music and Ent., Concert for Peace for Re Genesis, Conscious Life Expo, The Alive Poets, International Peace Day Global Broadcast, Humanity Unites Brilliance, and Roseanne Barr Presidential Campaign.
Emeric Le Bars is a producer, motion timelapse photographer, cinematographer and video editor for TOtLEntertainment. Emeric relocated from France to Los Angeles a few years ago. He has an extensive portfolio of stock footage and 4K+ clips and has sold his work in over 50 different countries around the world. Some of his clients include Yelp, Converse, Time Warner Cable Sportsnet, The Staples Center, The San Francisco 49ers, OUE Skyspace LA and The Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board to name a few.
